Oklahoma Sooners Hold Pro Day For NFL Scouts - Crimson And ...

As we approach April and the NFL draft, schools all over the country are hosting NFL scouts for their local Pro Day which gives many players a chance at some exposure they might not normally get. The Sooners are no exception as they are expected to have 16 players take part in today's workout. In addition to the large number of participants, there is no shortage of feel good stories or guys who could benefit greatly from a strong performance.

Thanks to the always outstanding SoonerSports, you can follow along live with their live webcast.

After the jump, we'll detail all the players who are expected to take part.

Star-divide

DE Frank Alexander - Big Frank got a bit of a scare at the combine when it was initially reported the doctors found a previously undiagnosed heart condition that prevented him from working out. However reports have since come out, from Frank himself, stating the initial reports were untrue. So today will be a big day for the former Sooner as I'd expect him to take part in most if not all of the exercises today. A strong performance could help him boost his draft value after winning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.

DB Jesse Bell - A defensive back who, no offense Jesse, I've never heard of. Don't believe he ever played a down while at OU.

WR Ryan Broyles - I haven't heard definitively, but I think I'd be surprised if he works out for the scouts today. He's said he was running a 4.7 forty just a week or so ago, but he might not quite be ready to run today with so much at stake. He did more than well enough at the combine on the bench press to not need to do it again today.

CB Jamell Fleming - Fleming had a very good day in Indy so I don't expect him to participate in much today. Could be wrong on that, but there isn't much upside to doing any worse than the numbers he's already posted.

OL Stephen Good - Good was one of the more frustrating players to come through Norman in recent years. He came in as a five star and highly regarded recruit, but never really developed into the player so many hoped he would be. Strength was not and never will be an issue with Good, so expect a solid performance on the bench press, but scouts will be paying close attention to his agility in drills today.

TE James Hanna - Much like Fleming, Hanna put up very solid numbers at the combine so he's not likely to run again today. He should take part in any pass catching drills as he had several drops in Indy, so I'm sure scouts would like to see him improve there.

OL Jarvis Jones - A guy most OU fans probably forgot about after he missed most of last season, but he was once considered a very legit NFL prospect. Jones originally was an LSU Tiger before transferring to Oklahoma. At this point, he's probably a late round guy at best (more likely a free agent guy) but he could catch some scout's eye with a good performance today.

WR Cameron Kenney - Forever a part of OU folklore for that Bedlam game two years ago, the former Sooner will be looking for another chance at the league. If teams are willing to look past a somewhat recent legal snafu, he could be a guy that gets invited to a camp somewhere.

DE/OLB Ronnell Lewis - The Hammer did pretty well at the combine, but not likely well enough to warrant not participating today (aside from the bench press). I'd expect he wants to improve on his forty time from the combine and with his athleticism, it's unlikely working out again will hurt his draft stock.

LB Travis Lewis - Now here is a guy who really needs to do well today. Lewis has a terrible lone forty attempt in Indy and reportedly hurt his leg during his one and only run posting a 4.88. He will need to drastically improve on that number and hopefully the friendly home track can help him with that. I mean I heard the phrase "might not get drafted" following the combine and that was shocking given where he once was as a Sooner.

WR Dejuan Miller - Miller was a guy I was always waiting on to make that "jump" to a more consistent player. He's a guy I will be really rooting for to do well today. He has all the physical skills to be a player in the NFL, but anyone who watched him play knows that his ability to catch the ball will be his biggest issue today.

DB Sam Proctor - Proctor is a guy that kind of reminds me of Jeremy Beal in that he isn't the most physically gifted player and probably won't test all that well, but a guy who in the right system could potentially be a dependable player

TE Trent Ratterree - I hate to even consider doubting the guy, so I just can't bring myself to say the NFL might not be in his future. I'd venture to guess more than one person told him that when he said he'd play for Oklahoma. Keep proving them wrong Trent!

LB Ryan Reynolds - Would there be a better feel good story than the former Sooner coming back from all the injuries to get a shot in the league? I can't think of one. Reynolds is reportedly in the best shape of his life and wanted to give it one more go while he still thought he could. If there is a person out there not rooting for this guy I'm pretty sure they don't have a heart in their body.

OL Donald Stephenson - Another OU guy who excelled at the combine and one I'd be surprised if he did much today. He'll definitely get drafted in my opinion, but probably not before the fourth round.

WR James Winchester - Do NFL teams draft long snappers? If they do, they'd be getting an absolute steal in Winchester. I mean have ever seen another guy with the talent he had at being the first guy down on punt coverage every single time? I was always surprised he never got even a small shot at wide receiver. He's obviously an athletic guy and I'd honestly be surprised if he didn't test well today.
