I discovered night cream when I accidentally bought it thinking it was day cream.. only realising it wasn’t when my make up didn’t sit quite so well/ran all over my face. Yeah, night cream is definitely for the night.
Here is a review of my two favourite day/night cream combinations.
Johnsons day cream/ Johnsons night cream (for normal skin - also available for sensitive skin)
Johnsons was the first day cream/night cream combo I tried and I have to say, it is still very, very high on my list of beauty must haves. I have really sensitive skin on my face and so have a little difficulty finding lotions and potions that don’t make me look like a beetroot, or as though I’ve been stung by a wasp.
I’ve dabbled with many moisturisers and have tested numerous day creams since, but this is still the one I buy on a regular basis. I use the cream for normal skin because at first I didn't know that there was a sensitive skin option.. I've never tried the sensitive version as I find that this cream is extremely gentle as it is!
If you want moisturising cream with a light clean scent and reasonable price this is the one for you. The packaging is cute, the size is good and you can carry it around in your handbag without worrying about leaks and spills. Johnsons day cream is super softening, sits perfectly under make up with minimum smudge risks, and protects against harmful rays from the sun.. in my books, the perfect day cream.
As for the night cream, it can be a little heavy so it’s best to only use a little bit, and to make sure you wash your face thoroughly the next morning. However, just like the day cream it is softening and good for sensitive skin. Just don’t mix the two up, night cream has no SPF and can make your mascara/eyeliner/foundation go super smudgy.. which really isn’t a good look.

Clarins day cream/Clarins night cream (for all skin types)
I discovered this beauty of a product when it was sent to me in my January Glossybox. I'd heard good things about Clarins products and so was very excited to try this, and it didn't let me down. Clarins products, first of all, smell absolutely beautiful.. I didn't think I was into scented creams for my face, but this completely blew me away, and I can't get enough of it.
If you have a little more of a big budget than I do (I actually can't justify buying this once my samples run out.. sob!) then I'd reccommend going for this day and night cream. The Clarins day cream sits beautifully and even gives a bit of a glow, my make up settled very well on top of it and it left my face feeling very moisturised and refreshed. However, one bad point is that there doesn't seem to be any SPF sun protection - which I personally think should be a big part of any cream that claims to prevent aging (as this one does.)
The Clarins night cream, unlike the Johnsons, is not too heavy and can be applied liberally without giving you a shiny finish. It only takes a little bit of it to do the job though, so unless you really, really want to completely smother your face in this stuff, you can get away with making it last.

For me, the Clarins is preferable to the Johnsons in smell and texture, but Johnsons wins overall due to price and SPF protection (I burn easily).
