A little help from Clarins Extra Firming Day and Night Cream

Firming creams. I realise I have now come to the age where in I need to pay more attention to my skin, especially when I spend days cooped up in an dry and air-conditioned/heated office, with brief moments out in the bitter cold, and back again into the warm air at home. Oh yes, and age too, we're not getting younger are we?

So when I received the Clarins Day and Night creams in my January Glossybox I was grinning... and slightly saddened by the fact that yes, my skin is losing that youthful luster that I remember having back in high school. (damn) But nothing to be depressed about, I just have to make sure I age gracefully right? (cue chuckle from my husband if he is reading this! :D )

Clarins, I always thought was too high end for me, too posh and once again something beyond my 'age range'. Oops, I have now fallen into that category. However, to my surprise, the creams were a lot better than I expected.

Something that people have to remember before they use either cream is that they really need to cleanse well before hand. Perhaps it is the thickness of the product, it has more substance than standard face creams and almost works like a primer, so if you haven't cleaned your skin properly, prepare for a break out.

A little info on the two creams:

Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream
A firming day cream that contains revitalising White Tea and Succory Dock-Cress, clinically-proven to help visibly reduce the signs of ageing lifting, toning and smoothing the skin for noticeable results. Infusing skin with firming benefits that are immediate and long-lasting. Day after day, skin appears younger as facial contours are tightened and look more defined. Lines and wrinkles are noticeably minimised.
Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream
Clarins’ intensive night-time skin renewal complex including soothing Rosemary, firming Alfalfa and revitalising Glistin “lifts” and tones while you sleep for a firmer, more luminous complexion upon waking. Complements the action of Extra-Firming Day Cream smoothing lines and wrinkles, defining facial contours and promoting noticeably younger-looking skin.

After using it for 5 days, I must admit, there is a big difference. At first I did have a few break outs on my skin, but that was when I realised that I was not cleansing as well as I should have. After that, everything went smoothly and the pampering effect is paying off. Remember to apply on both your face and neck (everyone forgets to moisturise and take care of their neck, important tip!) and you'll see a big difference in the tone, hydration and of course firmness. It doesn't have much of a scent but it isn't necessary, and works amazingly well during the winter months. It is freezing outside and my skin still feels moisturised. I don't feel the need to wear anything else during the day, not even any make up! In the evening the night cream works wonders, you find yourself fresh faced after you wake up in the morning. There are a lot of mixed reviews about this product, some people swear to it and some don't, and I think it depends on whether you have combination/oily skin. I have combination/oily skin, for our skin type this may not be the best for us, but you can make it work and can't stress enough the importance of cleansing before using this. But I have to give this a thumbs up and can see why there are such avid fans out there for Clarins.
