Strawberrynet haul « DailyOxford

Heard of Strawberrynet.com? I’ve used it for a few years now. It’s a discounted cosmetics and skincare website and I think it’s based in Hong Kong. It offers many brands you just can’t get in New Zealand and always has special offers. And did I mention the free shipping?

I order stuff maybe three or four times a year and I usually pick up something from the special offers section whilst I’m at it. For New Zealand women, it can often be cheaper to shop this way. Let’s take an example. For years, I’ve used Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream. I don’t use it every day and sometimes I don’t use it for a few months but I always have a tube of it on hand because it’s calming for my skin when it’s acting up. There is now a Rose Day Cream Light, which I prefer, and in NZ this costs $66.00. On Strawberrynet it’s $61.00 – a saving of $5.00. Not a lot but still a saving.

Regular readers know that I’m somewhat obsessed about the sun here in NZ. It’s strong with a capital S. I slather myself in sunscreen everyday and prefer to use Oasis Sun SPF30+ because it doesn’t contain nano-particles. I’m increasingly worried about nano-particles and I read somewhere that they are being described as the asbestos of the 21st Century and can mess with your cells. I’m going to do a post on nano-particles soon because they are in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and food.

But back to Strawberrynet. I searched in vain for a sunscreen for the eye area. No good using your regular sunscreen because it can irritate the eyes. Some research told me that Clarins has a sun protection cream for the delicate eye area – Clarins Sun Wrinkle Control Eye Contour Care SPF 30. Couldn’t find it anywhere in New Zealand so I popped onto Strawberrynet and found it for NZ$39.00.

I checked out the specials too and located what I hope is a really good day and night cream. I can’t really be bothered with the whole special day cream, special night cream business. I’m nearly at the end of my Sulwhasoo bottles and reconsidering this range even though it’s extremely good. I need to do research as I’m worried about the nano-particles that I have read Asian skincare ranges put in their cosmetics and skincare.

The cream I ordered is by Coryse Salome. Who? Yeah, I hadn’t heard of them either but apparently the house of Coryse was established in Paris in 1919 and joined with the perfumery, Salome, in 1929 becoming Coryse-Salome. Strong Parisian heritage here. I purchased their Multi-Vitamin Cream, which is supposed to restore “vitality and freshness to dull, lifeless skin“. I don’t think my skin is THAT bad but true to say, as we get older, the skin gets duller. But do Coryse Salome use nano-particles? I’ll be checking this out. The product cost NZ$27.00 as it was on special.

Yeah, I know: it’s not really a haul. :-) I ordered everything on March 25 and what I really like about Strawberrynet is that you can track your order. It took them 2 hours and 20 minutes to process my credit card and dispatch the order from their warehouse. My order arrived in NZ on March 29 and was passed on to the delivery company in Auckland. It reached me on the morning of April 3. So around 10 days, which isn’t great in this day and age but not too bad I suppose.

Just looking at Strawberrynet now, I’m kicking myself because for Easter (up to April 10) there are 75% off specials. And one special is a Limited Edition Stila eyeshadow palette that is normally NZ$48.00 going for $12.00. Would love to lay my hands on this! Oh, well.

I’ll do a review on the Clarins product and the Coryse Salome cream once I’ve road tested them for a few weeks. And stay tuned for my post on nano-particles.

The box from Strawberrynet.com always arrives tied with a purple ribbon.

But MAF have obviously snooped into the box to check there is nothing suspicious.

Each item you order is always neatly wrapped in special paper.

And here are my goodies!

You can track your order!
